ME & MY DYSLEXIA
What is Me and My dyslexia?

“Me, and My Dyslexia” is a concept about bringing attention to the relationship between
neurodiversity and mental health, one of many types of unseen disabilities. This work is part
autobiographical, and showing experiences that neurodivergent like myself can face.

Neurodiversity is about processing and communicating in the world differently, and this project
aims to put it all on the table. To educate, and enlighten. Taking difficult issues and make them
easier to talk about, using comedy in this occasion to combat negative attitudes. To overcome the
barriers we face and what better to do but laugh in its face, taking it head on, to find the light.
Referring to the social model of disability such as ability to work.

It looks at the issues such as the lack of diagnosis/screening in schools, and the humiliation that
can come into that, and how that can follow us into the work place or applying for jobs.
This work also explores themes such doubt, and confidence in personally and professional
settings. Not trusting ones thoughts, and memories.

We recently did a short residency at The Work Room in Glasgow, and taking this stage of project to Edinburgh Fringe to test in front of audiences!
